Authenticity breeds satisfaction
When authenticity makes its debut in any situation, there’s a certain kind of risk involved. There’s a chance that it can feel like taking a big backwards step. Maybe things have been going well and things have been rather peaceful. But then, there’s an event; you speak up for a truth that you feel to the core of your being. Maybe emotions run high, feelings get hurt, or you’ve said something or reacted in a way you wish you wouldn’t have, all because naked truth feels really uncomfortable sometimes. This is especially the case when we’re beginning to establish boundaries, where there have been none.
It may feel uncomfortable and vulnerable being exposed in truth, and you can’t be sure how it will be received. This exposure can feel deeply uncomfortable and if it’s new territory, it may feel like you made the wrong choice, initially.
But, here’s the catch… if you don’t choose to honor your truth and be willing to show up for it, give voice and space to it, you risk feeling stuck in sticky resentment. And, not only is that not a fun place to be, it’s bad for your health, well-being and promotes staying stuck.
Authenticity breeds satisfaction. Inauthenticity breeds resentment.
Willingness to be uncomfortable, sit with pain or uncertainty, and learn experientially without allowing shame to take over, promotes self-growth, true happiness and a new truth about your relationships to self, life and others. It becomes a breeding ground for a deeply satisfying existence.
In truth, “there are no steps backward. Even the discomfort and meltdowns move us forward.” – Erin Christine.
